  3. The data file format of LOG V 3.0 is incompatible with earlier versions and
  4. should NOT be used until your existing TIME.LOG file is closed out and
  5. renamed.  This is EXTREMELY IMPORTANT if you want to preserve your current
  6. records!

  10. LOG V 3.0 has several significant operational differences from earlier
  11. versions.
  12.  
  13. 1) File format:
  14.    - It adds a real-number record of the elapsed time to simplify the
  15.      calcuation of category totals during the summary procedure
  16.    - The comment line has been shortened to only 12 characters so a
  17.      frequently-used time file won't take over your disk as soon.

  19. 2) Command line switches:
  20.    - Summary of log entries is accessed with /* switch instead of the
  21.      separate SHOW program used in previous version.
  22.    - A total of 27 possible categories are possible with switches /A
  23.      through /Z, or with no switch at all, each totaled separately with
  24.      the summary option (/*).
  25.    - Invoking LOG with no switch or comment brings up a quickie usage
  26.      guide for the casual user.

  28. 3) Drive/directory for TIME.LOG file is pre-assigned as C:\UTILITY.  This
  29.    may be a problem for for double-floppy users, but a simple fix is
  30.    beyond my scope of expertise.  If you have a solution (perhaps use of
  31.    the SUBST or ASSIGN command), please let me know.  If you _need_ a
  32.    solution, let me know and I'll pass any words of wisdom on to you.  If
  33.    all else fails, I can always rewrite the program to look in the default
  34.    directory and upload it.
